Stephen King: On Writing - Book Review
10 / 10. A must for any aspiring writer
Stephen King’s On Writing was at the top of my recommended reading list for my MA Creative Writing. It’s been the most motivational and useful tool I've used so far on my journey to becoming a writer.
With realistic advice peppered with personal anecdotes from King's life, including the fascinating tale of his near fatal accident in 1999. This book is a must for any aspiring writer and the constant reader. The book is written in King’s usual addictive style with invaluable advice throughout, the most important tool in the writer’s tool box. My copy sits on my desk with many highlighted and tabbed sections for constant review.
King suggests activities to practice for yourself, including an agent letter and a short story exercise. My attempt at the short story exercise was the inspiration for my short story - A Walk in the Woods.
