The Walking Dead: Season 9, Episode 7 Review: Stradivarius
6.5 / 10. Faltering towards the midpoint as usual, hopeful to see what shenanigans the new enemy brings *SPOILERS*
In AMC’s zombie horror series The Walking Dead, season 9, episode 7, there’s an update on life at the Hilltop, not much happening there, but any scenes with the underutilised Jesus are welcome.
On the way to Hilltop with the newbies, Michonne was finally informed that Maggie (Lauren Cohan) has left. There was still no explanation for this, which may come into play later. There were some sweet moments with BFFs Carol (Melissa McBride) and Daryl (Norman Reedus). Good to see him back and hope he’s sticking around, Eugene’s disappearance has brought him back into the fold nicely.
We’re almost half way through, and there is no real sign of the new enemy. I’m guessing they will turn up next week, just before the break until the new year. The casting of Alpha and Beta of The Whisperers is promising (Samantha Morton and Ryan Hurst), but they need to speed up the storytelling pace.
Michonne (Danai Gurira) has been a standout this season. Her emotional range has been subtle, dealing with being a leader, a mother, and Rick’s loss.
There was a subtle creepy moment with Connie (Lauren Ridloff) looking off into the woods as if she saw something, I paused it but couldn’t see anything…
The shot of Daryl driving off on his bike and the horses following was picturesque.
